If you are a frequent traveler, you know how frustrating it can be to try navigating your way around an unfamiliar city or state. It is almost impossible without a map. However, a GPS system is actually a much better navigational choice than a map for two reasons: you don’t have to take your eyes off the road, and you can calculate an alternate route.

With a GPS system, you never have to take your eyes off the road. Maps are dangerous because you spend a few seconds glancing at the map, then back at the road.I found some more information here. With a GPS system, you type in the address of your destination before you leave, then follow the turn by turn spoken directions until you arrive at your desired destination.

Another reason that GPS systems are better than maps is because you can calculate an alternate route. If you run into construction or a road block, a map cannot tell you how to get out of that situation and get to your destination from there, but GPS can if you tell it to calculate an alternate route.

Overall, GPS systems are far better than maps because they make safety and practical provisions that maps do not.
