NemeriX focuses on applications that require high energy efficiency, without compromising performance. For customers, NemeriX’s high-performance devices deliver increased battery life, 20% lower power than competitive solutions, lower overall system cost (including a 20% lower bill of materials than the closest competitor), and increased GPS performance through the intelligent integration of hardware, software and firmware. Through this unique combination of innovative silicon architectures and proprietary layout techniques, NemeriX integrated circuits offer the world’s lowest power GPS solution available today.

Markets

GPS has evolved from use in military and industrial applications for location determination and navigation, into one of the hottest consumer products in recent memory. With the coming advent of location-based services (LBS) and provisioning on mobile phones, GPS/ LBS promises semiconductor growth in excess of 50% through 2011 (source: ABI Research 2007). Growth segments include proximity-based marketing, social networking (dating, find-a-friend, find-a-family member), gaming and financial authentication, as well as the already established navigation, tracking (people, animals, assets), and emergency (e911) markets.

Products

NemeriX is committed to delivering differentiated solutions that focus on the needs of its customers. NemeriX's combined competence in low power, high-sensitivity RF and digital baseband design enables the delivery of complete GPS systems for battery-powered applications. Power efficiency — combined with no loss of accuracy — means OEMs and ODMs can produce lighter, more compact products with longer battery operating times, and at a lower cost. NemeriX solutions have been benchmarked from 20% to 40% less power compared to competitive solutions, giving an end-product battery life that provides up to 80% more operating time than systems using competitive solutions. NemeriX also provides value, by offering its leading A-GPS/ Extended Ephemeris (NeX) solution free on all NX3 and NX4 solutions.

The NemeriX product range comprises:

NX3 the current generation of NemeriX single-package hosted, A-GPS receivers that incorporate RF and base-band. The NX3 is targeted for mobile phone and handheld wireless applications with indoor requirements. NX3 requires less than 8 MIPS on the host processor, and delivers power savings of more than 20% over competitive solutions.
NX4 Platform to enable NemeriX customers to differentiate their products, NemeriX has launched the NX4 platform. NX4 allows customers to choose the architecture they believe is best (hosted/ stand-alone), the performance level needed (high-performance, low-cost, embedded, integrated), the integration path (horizontal, vertical) and the process node (90nm, 65nm).
NeX is an innovative Extended Ephemeris solution specifically targeted for mobile devices needing the ability to acquire positioning information “deep-indoors” or in harsh multi-path environments. NeX compacted firmware allows TTFF in cold-starts ~2 -20 secs, in a multitude of harsh environments via a number of transmission methods, and offers unparalleled accuracy. NeX is also offered FREE on all NX3 and NX4 hardware platforms.
NX2 is NemeriX’s general purpose 2nd generation outdoor GPS solution with WAAS/EGNOS. Ultra-low power, (<25mW tracking), NX2 is a low-cost, stand-alone GPS receiver delivering formatted navigation information (NMEA protocol with NemeriX extensions).

NemeriX strives to be at the very leading-edge of advanced technologies, with its Advanced Development Team, in Santa Clara, CA., membership in the Galileo supervisory authority, and regular review of complimentary space-based, terrestrial and wireless positioning technologies.

Company History

Founded in 2002, NemeriX is a rapidly growing venture-backed company with unique patent-protected intellectual property. The consortium of investors includes Atila Ventures, Auriga Partners, Venture Incubator AG, Polytechnos Venture-partners, and Oak Investment Partners.

As well as supplying fully integrated devices, NemeriX provides complete solutions to enable rapid product integration, including evaluation boards, system software reference designs, user documentation, online support and access to NemeriX designers and global cadre of application engineers.

The company is closely involved in the EU’s Galileo program, as a developer and provider of space and ground segment RF solutions.

Future Developments

NemeriX is leading the development of solutions, for the next generation of pedestrian navigation and LBS requirements. Currently in advanced development, these advanced solutions (LBX- location-based experience) will enable high-performance consumer positioning in all usage scenarios.
