Chipset Evaluation Kit NB1043Ax

The NB104xAx is a reference design that can be used as an example to develop a self-contained GPS receiver module based on the NemeriX NJ1030A and NJ1006A GPS chipset. It can also be used to rapidly evaluate the GPS performance and the current consumption of the NemeriX GPS solution. The GPS reference designs NB104xAx can be easily plugged into the interface board IB2000, which is provided as a part of the kit, making the evaluation process straightforward.

The evaluation kit includes full schematics and layouts of the NemeriX GPS reference design. In addition, customers are supported by the highly-experienced NemeriX application team. The application support team will be able to assist in the evaluation process and also provide advice on the hardware design process. This will include providing suggested guidelines for your development work as well as reviewing schematics and layouts throughout the whole hardware development phase. Support will extend to bringing up and tuning of your NemeriX-based manufactured boards.

Interface board IB2000 (datasheet), provided as part of the kit

The evaluation kit includes the interface board IB2000. This is an interface board for the evaluation of the NemeriX GPS receiver reference designs NB104xAx (NB1043AP, NB1043AS). The main purpose is to provide power supplies, control signals and interfacing to a PC through a RS-232 serial interface. The main characteristics include:

  • The GPS reference designs NB104xAx can be easily plugged into the interface boards and evaluation can start right away.
  • For the reference designs that need an active antenna, a SMA connector is available. The phantom power is provided by the reference design boards.
  • As a main power supply, beside a 14V tolerant plug, the socket for 3 AAA batteries is provided to facilitate field tests.
  • The IB2000 can also be used to re-program the reference designs flash content. Both In System Programming (ISP) and single cable modes are supported.
  • On-board NiMH backup battery (VBAT)
  • GPS receiver power consumptions measurement (mA)
  • RS232 serial interface - NMEA data output to PS/2 connector
  • Pins for measurement of NB104xAx power consumption
